Barclays gets a new head for UK Investment Banking

Barclays Investment Bank has appointed Aamir Khan as Managing Director in its UK Investment Banking Coverage team. Khan joins Barclays in February 2022, and will report to Alisdair Gayne, Head of Investment Banking, UK.

Khan’s primary focus will be to further grow Barclays’ M&A capabilities with UK clients.

Most recently, Khan has worked with HSBC, where he has spent the past six years. In his recent stint there, he held a Managing Director role within their M&A team, working primarily with UK clients in the consumer and retail, and TMT sectors.

Prior to that he spent 10 years at Lazard originating and executing M&A transactions across a range of sectors, with predominantly UK-based clients.

During his career, he has advised on a number of important transactions including advising CK Asset Holdings on its acquisition of Greene King plc, Carlyle on the sale of PA Consulting and Remgro on the sale of its stake in ULSA to Unilever plc.

Reid Marsh, Head of Investment Banking, Europe, the Middle East and Africa believes Khan will be a great asset to their team.

Alisdair Gayne, Head of Investment Banking, UK, said: “The strength of Aamir’s experience in the M&A space coupled with the deep relationships he holds with many key UK clients will further enhance our ability to provide best-in-class strategic advice and execution.”

As Marsh shared, Khan's appointment is one of more than 20 hires Barclays have made over the past year to strengthen its Investment Banking platform in EMEA.
