Haleon, the largest independent consumer health business globally, is preparing to reduce its workforce by hundreds of positions both in the UK and worldwide.

Having been separated from GSK last year, the corporation responsible for producing Sensodyne toothpaste and Advil painkillers currently employs over 24,000 employees worldwide, reported The Guardian on Thursday.

According to the same report, employees were notified about the job cuts earlier this week through a series of meetings. A consultation process was initiated on Wednesday and is expected to conclude on August 25th.

"We've announced internally a number of changes across our global business this week, as we continue to evolve Haleon into a more agile organisation," Haleon spokesperson said in an email to Reuters.

In March, the company disclosed its plans to achieve cost savings of approximately 300 million pounds ($393 million) over the course of the next three years. As part of this initiative, it anticipated incurring restructuring costs of around 150 million pounds during the full year of 2023 and 2024.

"As we enter a process of consultation in relevant markets, we are fully committed to supporting colleagues that may be impacted," the company added.

As per the report, individuals who have been laid off are projected to depart from Haleon in September.

The report indicates that the employees who have been laid off are expected to leave Haleon in the month of September.
