Walmart Inc has announced to slash more than 2000 jobs at its warehouses. The job cut will impact people employed at fulfillment centers in Texas, Pennsylvania, Florida, and New Jersey.

However, those impacted are likely to be absorbed into other roles within the company. According to the report, the company is planning an additional reduction in California.

On the other hand, Walmart outlined its growth strategy, unveiled next generation supply chain at 2023 Investment Community Meeting.

Through its work, Walmart is reengineering its supply chain to fulfill customer needs with a more intelligent and connected omnichannel network that is enabled by greater use of data, more intelligent software and automation. The outcome improves in-stock, inventory accuracy and flow whether customers shop in stores, pickup, or have a delivery.

By the end of Fiscal Year 2026, Walmart is planning to service around 65% of stores by automation, approximately 55% of the fulfillment center volume is expected to move through automated facilities, and unit cost averages could improve by approximately 20%.
