Demand for HR & Admin professionals in Southeast Asia grows

Online demand for HR & Admin job roles in Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines continues to register year-on-year growth, with an annual increase of 10%, 10%, and 18% respectively. This is according to the latest Monster Employment Index (MEI), a monthly gauge of online hiring activity across Singapore, Malaysia, and the Philippines. The MEI comprises data of overall hiring activity in each country, as well as specific data in the HR and Admin sector.

The online recruitment demand for HR & Admin job roles in the Philippines gained the steepest upswing of year-on-year growth with an 18% increase, the highest when compared to Singapore and Malaysia. This growth in online hiring for HR & Admin professionals have shifted significantly for countries that previously saw a year-on-year decline in February 2018 and February 2019. After exhibiting positive growth for the first time since March 2018, the demand for HR & Admin professionals continues, registering simultaneous uptrends in these three countries for the first time.

“Online hiring demand for HR & Admin professionals in the Philippines continues on its upward trend from the beginning of the first quarter, soaring as one of the top growth occupations in the country. Having said that, though the positive growth is minimal in Singapore and Malaysia for HR & Admin job roles, it is starting to take shape, and has ended the first quarter with an unexpected upswing,” said Abhijeet Mukherjee, CEO of Monster.com – APAC & Middle East.

“Organisations are now investing more time in re-evaluating their long-term growth strategies and workforce composition, therefore requiring more HR & Admin professionals to help foster positive employee experience from within the businesses.”
