Automotive supplier Bosch announced plans to reduce its workforce by as many as 1,500 positions across two German sites by 2025, a move aimed at aligning staffing levels with the evolving demands and technological shifts within the automotive sector.

According to Automobilwoche, the company stated, “In line with industry trends, we're adapting employment levels to match current orders, structural transformations in the propulsion sector, and the advancement of future technologies.”

A spokesperson emphasised the need to adjust capacities, targeting approximately 1,500 positions in development, administration, and sales within the Drives division at the Feuerbach and Schwieberdingen sites by the end of 2025.

Bosch highlighted its efforts to achieve these adjustments through internal transfers, early retirement options, and voluntary redundancy programs. Discussions with the works council are underway to finalise the specifics.

Acknowledging unforeseen challenges in the current year, Bosch emphasised, “Despite our commitment to preserving employment through new products and comprehensive training initiatives, aligning staffing levels with demand remains necessary in certain areas.”

The company affirmed its commitment to avoiding compulsory layoffs at its German mobility locations until the conclusion of 2027.
