Jonathan Chadwick, Independent Director at Cognizant Technology Solutions is stepping down in December.

Chadwick, who had previously served as finance and operations Chief Executive at VMware, had been appointed to Cognizant’s board of directors in 2016. Recently, the firm has seen a slew of exits from senior positions including Prasad Chintamaneni, who had served as president for global industries and consulting at Cognizant. The current CEO of Mindtree Debashis Chatterjee — who had earlier served as executive VP and president of global delivery at Cognizant — and Gajen Kandiah, former president of the firm’s digital business, were among those who had left the company in recent days.

Chadwick has over 35 years of experience and was most recently appointed as the Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer of VMware, Inc., a virtualization and cloud infrastructure solutions company, serving from November 2012 to April 2016.

Prior to joining VMware, Jonathan was Chief Financial Officer of Skype Technologies, S.A., an Internet communications company, as well as Corporate Vice President of Microsoft Corporation since its acquisition of Skype in October 2011. He joined Skype from security technology company McAfee, Inc., where he was Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer from June 2010 to February 2011. From 1997 to 2010 Jonathan held various financial roles at Cisco Systems, Inc., including Senior Vice President, CFO—Global Customer Markets, Senior Vice President, Corporate Controller and Principal Accounting Officer and Vice President, Corporate Finance & Planning. He also worked for accounting firm Coopers & Lybrand in various roles in the United States and the United Kingdom.

Jonathan has served on the Board of Directors of ServiceNow, Inc., a cloud computing company, since October 2016 and on the Board of Directors of Elastic, N.V., a provider of information technology and data analysis services, since August 2018. He currently serves as the Chair of the Audit Committee for each of these two companies.

Jonathan is a Chartered Accountant in England and Wales and holds a Bachelor’s degree with honors in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Bath in the United Kingdom.
