DBS Group Holdings (DBS) has named Eugene Huang as its new Chief Information Officer (CIO), effective May 10, 2024. With over 36 years of experience in the tech industry, Huang will join DBS's Group Executive Committee and report directly to CEO Piyush Gupta.

He brings extensive leadership experience from startups to multinational corporations in global financial hubs, including nearly a decade at Salomon Smith Barney and Credit Suisse First Boston in New York, along with roles at Citigroup and HSBC.

Huang comes to DBS from Ping An Group, where he led a large team responsible for delivering IT solutions across the company's businesses. He served as Chairman and CEO of Ping An Technology, overseeing its profit and loss operations and guiding OneConnect Financial Technology, a Ping An subsidiary, to a successful public listing on the New York Stock Exchange in 2019.

Huang takes over from Han Kwee Juan, who served as both Acting CIO and Singapore Country Head since November 2023 and will resume full-time duties as Singapore Country Head from June 1, 2024.

CEO Piyush Gupta expressed confidence in Huang's blend of business and tech expertise, emphasising his role in strengthening DBS's technology resilience and commitment to enhancing customer experiences.
