Joining the senior executive team at Gap Inc., Eric Chan and Amy Thompson will play pivotal roles towards brand reinvigoration and cultural relevance.

Gap Inc., a leading retailer of clothing and accessories, has announced the appointment of Amy Thompson as Chief People Officer and Eric Chan as Chief Business and Strategy Officer, effective from January 2024.

Joining the senior leadership team, Eric and Amy work directly with Richard Dickson, President, and Chief Executive Officer of the retail company. Welcoming them to the leadership team, Richard said, “Eric Chan and Amy Thompson will play a critical role in solidifying our foundation as we redefine Gap Inc. for a new era; one where operational rigor becomes a consistent cornerstone of strength for us, bolstered by best-in-class talent and a culture of creativity all paving the way for brand reinvigoration and cultural relevance.”

Assuming her role, Amy brings over 25 years of core HR experience for various retail brands. Prior to her appointment, she was working with Mattel in the capacity of Chief People Officer. In her previous roles, she served TOMS, Starbucks, and Ticketmaster. Her core competencies encompass talent management, organisation design and development, compensation & benefits, diversity & inclusion, and employee culture and engagement.

On the academic front, Amy holds a BA degree in Psychology from Chaminade University of Honolulu and an MA in Organisational Development from Azusa Pacific University.

Amy expressed, “I have long admired Gap Inc. for its dedication to its teams, customers, and the communities it serves. I look forward to working hand in hand with leadership to empower and energize the organisation, creating a culture that thrives on collaboration, creativity, and purpose, that will serve as a strong foundation in this exciting new era.”

On the other hand, Eric brings over 20 years of industry leadership experience across finance and operations. He recently served the LA Clippers in the capacity of Chief Financial Officer for over five years. Prior to that, he worked with The Bouqs Company, Loot Crate, Mattel, Cisco, and Nico Corp.

Richard commented on Eric’s appointment, “I’m thrilled that Eric will now be at the helm of our business and strategy operations, leading the development of Gap Inc.’s corporate strategy and the critical business levers that will enable us to execute that strategy with excellence.”

Eric added, “There's so much potential in Gap Inc.’s portfolio of iconic brands, and I’m excited to join the team at such a pivotal moment in the company’s history. I look forward to working alongside Gap Inc. leadership to develop and execute against our strategic agenda.”
