Warner Bros. Discovery, a leading media company, has announced the appointment of Jennifer Remling as the Chief People Officer. Adria Alpert Romm, the current Chief People and Culture Officer and a longtime partner and trusted advisor to CEO David Zaslav, will retire by June 2024.

Jennifer Remling will assume Romm's responsibilities from January 2024 and will report directly to CEO Zaslav.

Extending wishes to Romm, Zaslav stated, "I have been incredibly fortunate to have Adria by my side for more than 30 years as one of my closest advisors. A strong people culture is critical to any successful company, and Adria has fought every day to put employees first. Through her years of stellar leadership and innovation, she has ensured that our company has always been the gold standard in talent acquisition, as well as employee development and wellness. She is the absolute best in the business."

Welcoming Remling to the leadership team, Zaslav added, "While Jennifer has big shoes to fill, she is exceptionally talented and highly respected in her own right. She has led large-scale HR teams in support of complex global organizations with tens of thousands of employees. The lasting impact she has made at WPP underscores her strong support for employee development and DEI initiatives, as well as her clear commitment to creating a positive and nurturing workplace environment. We couldn't be more excited to have her join our leadership team."

Remling brings more than 20 years of core expertise in HR, including talent acquisition and development experience. She currently works with WPP in the role of Global Chief People Officer. In her previous roles, she served GroupM as the Global Chief People Officer, Essence as the Global Chief Talent Officer, and R/GA as their Global SVP of Talent at R/GA. She also held key roles at AKQA, iXL, 360i, Totality, Rock-ten company, and Sapient.

Sharing the news on LinkedIn, Remling posted, "I'm thrilled to share that I'll be joining the Warner Bros. Discovery team! A huge thank you to Mark Read for an incredible journey at WPP. Your leadership and support have been invaluable. I can't wait to see how you, Lindsay Pattison, and the team lead WPP into the future. In January, I'll start with WBD and begin the handoff process with the incredible Adria Alpert Romm. As David Zaslav said in the press release, I have big shoes to fill, and I'm honoured to have the opportunity."

In October 2023, WBD also strengthened its APAC leadership team with the appointment of James Gibbons as President for APAC operations. The new leadership team working under James includes:

  • Arjun Nohwar has been appointed as the GM of WBD South Asia.
  • Tony Qiu has been named as the GM of Greater China and SEA, leading a regional cluster of SEA, mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan,
  • Magdalene Ew has been appointed as the Head of Content for streaming, APAC,
  • Lynn Ng has been appointed as the Head of Content for Networks, APAC,
  • Shonali Bedi has been appointed as the Head of Strategy, Partnerships, and Insights, APAC,
  • Jae Chang has been named as the Head of Content Licensing for Southeast Asia, India, and Korea.

Announcing the leadership changes for APAC Operations, Gibbons said, 'Culturally, demographically, and economically, APAC is the most diverse region, with more than half of the world's population and a mix of developed and emerging markets. There are significant growth opportunities here, and I have every confidence that this leadership and our talented teams have the expertise, skills, and ambition to drive optimum value across our globally renowned portfolio.
