The Bengaluru-headquartered IT service company, Infosys has announced that it will set up an innovation hub in Australia. As a part of this, the company is aiming to create 1200 jobs in Australia by the end of 2020.

Pravin Rao, Chief Operating Officer at Infosys, shared in media, “As a key technology partner of Australian business, we are proud to announce our commitment to accelerating digital skills in the region through the creation of 1200 skilled jobs, the development of our new Innovation Hubs and our deepening partnerships with academia.”

The company has also announced that 40 percent of the 1200 IT jobs would be filled by Australia University graduates from the field of computer science and design.

It is reported that Infosys has already started building a talent pool and have recruited 75 graduates from Australia as of now.

Almost 50 percent of the recruited candidates have completed their induction and are ready to be placed on strategic client projects.

Talking about the hiring program, Andrew Groth, Senior Vice President for Australia and New Zealand shared that graduates start their learning journey in Infosys’ Sydney and Melbourne training centers. The selected candidates can select from high demand roles like artificial intelligence, machine learning, user experience, cybersecurity, cloud, and big data.

So far, Infosys has set up two technology and innovation hubs, one in Indianapolis, Indiana and another in Raleigh, North Carolina in the US. The Indian IT-major has also announced setting up of more such hubs in Hartford, Connecticut, and Phoenix, Arizona, as well as a unique design and innovation hub in Providence, Rhode Island.
