Around 80% of office workers in Singapore have acknowledged using generative AI tools such as ChatGPT and Bard at work – including risky behaviour like inputting customer details, employee information and company financials into the tools.

According to the findings of a research report by Veritas Technologies, the use of generative AI has led to immense benefits for them. For 63% faster access to information followed by increased productivity (46%), automating mundane tasks (46%), generating new ideas (45%), and gathering advice on workplace challenges (26%) are among other benefits of generative AI.

Among the respondents, 49% believe that those who use GenAI tools should be required to teach the rest of their team on how to use them to create a level playing field.

Research has found that more than 80% of employees in Singapore want guidelines, policies, and training from their employers on using generative AI within their organisations.

Among the top reasons for policies and guidelines cited were the necessity for employees to understand how to use the tools appropriately (70%), the need to mitigate associated risks (51%), and the desire to foster a level playing field in the workplace (30%). However, the current scenario reveals that only 43% of employers offer mandatory usage directions to their employees.
