Dell opens Singapore hub, confirms hiring plans

Dell Technologies has launched a new Global Innovation Hub in Singapore and revealed that it is hiring for a total of 160 positions in various technology fields. The hub was actually established over a period of three years beginning in 2019, and while some of the positions had been filled during that period, hiring is still ongoing this year. All 160 jobs are scheduled to be filled by the end of 2021.

The new hub is the first such facility outside the US for developing and implementing digital transformation technologies such as augmented reality, edge computing, cloud native architecture, and cybersecurity. All the new jobs associated with the hub will be based in Singapore and will include developers, designers, and R&D talent.

Dell's Managing Director for Singapore, Eric Goh, commented that he expects to be able to tap the local talent pool as well as attract talent from outside Singapore's borders. “We are very encouraged by the spread of talent we can see,” he said of the talent available in the technology sector.

Dell is apparently also moving to secure its talent pipeline, having announced earlier this month that it is launching two training programs for fresh graduates and mid-career professionals in Singapore to acquire skills in cloud computing, data protection and management, data science, and big data analytics. The company is also targeting 1,000 undergraduates from the Singapore Management University, who offered access to a curriculum on cloud technology.
