Pluralsight closes acquisition of online training company 'A Cloud Guru'

Technology workforce development company Pluralsight has closed on its acquisition of Australian cloud skills development platform A Cloud Guru. In the month of June, Pluralsight made a declaration that it had entered into a definitive agreement to acquire A Cloud Guru backed by Vista Equity Partners’ recent acquisition of Pluralsight in April 2021. The acquisition helped Pluralsight expand online training tools for Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services as well as Google Cloud Platform.

“With our acquisition of A Cloud Guru, we are now positioned for driving cloud maturity at scale through an all-in-one solution for cloud skill development”, said Aaron Skonnard, Co-founder and CEO of Pluralsight.

This is the second major acquisition Pluralsight has made in the year 2021. The first acquisition deal of Pluralsight was with Next Tech in January.  Next Tech, based out of San Diego, California is a provider of cloud-based computing environments. This acquisition deal aided Pluralsight's major goal to close the increasing cloud skills gap, with Next Tech’s authoring and hosting of labs in software development, machine learning and data science.

“For businesses around the world and across all industries, cloud transformation is one of their most important technology initiatives and closing the growing cloud skills gap is their single biggest challenge in meeting it. As the leader in technology skill development for large enterprises around the world, we are determined to be their trusted partner to solve it”, said Skonnard.

Pluralsight's acquisition of A Cloud Guru was legally aided by Kirkland & Ellis LLP; financially advised by William Blair & Company, LLC. J.P. Morgan Securities LLC served as the exclusive financial advisor to A Cloud Guru and Latham & Watkins LLP legally aided the company.

“Since its inception, A Cloud Guru has empowered enterprises to unleash the cloud’s full potential by aligning talent, technology and vision”, said Sam Kroonenburg, Co-founder and CEO of A Cloud Guru.

The acquisition seeks to aim at the bigger goals in meeting the growing market demands for cloud skill development and to close the expanding cloud skills gap.
