EY Japan announced on March 19 the appointment of Moriaki Kida as the incoming Chairman & CEO of EY Japan and Japan Regional Managing Partner, effective 1 July 2021. He will succeed Koichi Tsuji, who is retiring from the EY partnership on that date.
Kida has been with EY for over two decades and has held positions with the firm's practices in San Francisco, London, New York, and Tokyo, including Director of Japan Business Services for the Americas, overseeing all EY professional services for Japan-headquartered clients doing business in North, Central, and South America. He is currently Japan Deputy Area Managing Partner and the Chief Operating Officer of EY Japan, from which position he will step down on June 30 to take up his new appointment.
Kida also holds several global roles in which he will continue, including board membership on the firm's Asia-Pacific Area Operating Executive, EY’s Global Practice Group, and the Diversity and Inclusion Steering Committee, which supports people with initiatives related to gender, LGBT+, and diverse ability and cultural backgrounds.
