New CEO to take helm at Marsh McLennan Asia

Not entirely new - David Jacob has headed Marsh Asia, the company's insurance arm, since September 2016.
New CEO to take helm at Marsh McLennan Asia

Professional services firm Marsh McLennan has appointed David Jacob CEO of Marsh McLennan Asia, effective 1 March 2023.

Jacob is currently the regional CEO of Marsh Asia, the insurance brokerage and risk advisory arm of the firm. He heads operations in China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam.

In the new role, he will head all four of the Marsh McLennan businesses in Asia - Marsh, human resource consultancy Mercer, risk and reinsurance firm Guy Carpenter, and management consultancy Oliver Wyman - with the objective of driving greater collaboration between the four businesses. He will report to Marsh McLennan International CEO Flavio Piccolomini.

Jacob has spent over 30 years at Marsh, having started with the firm in New York in 1990. He has worked in the Asia operations since 1996, when he was transferred to Marsh Philippines, and has been CEO of both Marsh Philippines and Marsh Hong Kong.

“With a career of more than 30 years at Marsh, David is an experienced and accomplished leader,” said international CEO Piccolomini. “Having held senior leadership positions across Asia for more than 20 years, he has a deep understanding of the challenges organisations across Asia face, as well as the wide range of Marsh McLennan’s capabilities to address them.”

Also effective 1 March 2023, James Addington-Smith, currently CEO of Marsh South Asia, has been appointed as Marsh Asia President, and Peta Latimer, currently CEO of Mercer Singapore, has been appointed as Mercer Asia President.
