DB Schenker, a global transportation and logistics provider, has announced the appointment of Vishal Sharma as the new CEO for the Asia Pacific region, with immediate effect.

In his elevated role, Vishal brings over three decades of leadership experience in the supply chain and logistics solutions industry. He has assumed responsibilities from Dr Niklas Wilmking, who has transitioned to the role of Global Board of Management for Contract Logistics and Supply Chain Management, following Hessel Verhage's departure after five years in the position.

Before his appointment, Vishal served as the CEO for the Greater China Cluster for the last three years. He joined the group in 2018 as the CEO of India and the Indian subcontinent. His core competencies include business strategy, transportation, logistics, private equity, and international logistics.

In his previous roles, Vishal worked with Damco as the CEO of India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka; Gateway Rail Freight Ltd as the CEO; ColdStar Logistics as the Director, and Tuscan Ventures as the MD and CEO. He also served Maersk for over four years in several leadership roles, including Vice President and Business Head for India operations, Director of the Group Strategy Office in Denmark, and Managing Director of Vietnam operations.

On the academic front, Vishal holds a Bachelor's degree in Commerce from Sydenham College of Commerce and Economics, an MMS degree from SVKM’s Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, and an MBA degree from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
