The newly appointed Chief People Officer, Michael Carter, brings core HR expertise as he held key roles at Fortune 500 and Silicon Valley technology companies, including Cisco, Intel, and Qualcomm.
Canoo appoints Lucid Motors VP of HR Michael Carter as Chief People Officer

Canoo, a US-based automobile firm, has announced the appointment of Michael Carter as Chief People Officer, with immediate effect.

Assuming his new role, Michael brings over 30 years of industry experience encompassing staffing, employee relations, culture and organizational development, compensation, benefits, workforce planning, talent mobility, and cross-site team effectiveness. He will be leading the company’s expansion and the scale-up of the manufacturing team in Oklahoma.

In his previous role, Michael served as the Vice President of HR for Lucid Motors. He also held the same role at Samsung Electronics for two years and at Cisco for over seven years. Additionally, he worked with TiVo in the capacity of Senior Vice President and CHRO, NextWave as VP of Human Resources, Qualcomm as the Director of Staffing, and Intel Corp. as the Director of Human Resources. Notably, he also served in the United States Marine Corps in the capacity of Non-Commissioned Officer from 1987 to 1993.

Welcoming Michael to the leadership role, Tony Aquila, Investor, Executive Chairman, and CEO at Canoo, said, “We’re excited to welcome Michael to the Canoo team. This important next phase in our journey requires ramping up our manufacturing team in Oklahoma. Michael’s skillset is connected to the most important things we have to get done in 2024.”

Recently, the company also appointed Ken Nieze in the role of Senior Vice President of Global Sales. He brings around 45 years of core industry expertise by holding key positions in global organizations, including PayCargo, Agility, Kuehne + Nagel, Celarix, DHL, Air Express International, and Fritz.
