Maybank appoints Alvin Lee as Singapore CEO

Maybank, a leading bank in Malaysia, has announced the appointment of Alvin Lee Han Eng as the Chief Executive Officer for its Singapore operations, effective from January 1, 2024.

Alvin, who has been a part of Maybank since 2013, currently heads the Group Wealth Management and Community Financial Services Singapore region.

His primary responsibilities include leading Maybank Singapore Limited, the bank’s CFS business consisting of Retail (personal banking, privilege wealth, premier wealth), Private Wealth, SME - Retail, Small Medium Enterprises (RSME) Banking, and Commercial Banking business in Singapore. This encompasses the establishment and execution of long and short-term strategies in support of both Country and Group vision and strategic direction.

Alvin's new role is a succession to John Lee Hin Hock, who is retiring from Maybank on December 31, 2023, after 12 years of service. He will lead the full range of Maybank's operations in Singapore, a key market for the bank.

Before joining the bank, Alvin served Burgan Bank in Kuwait as a Consultant and Group Treasurer. In his previous roles, he served Barclays London as the Director and Global Head of Risk Solutions, and JP Morgan Singapore and Citibank Singapore as the Vice President.

Welcoming Alvin into the leadership role, Khairussaleh Ramli, President, and Group CEO at Maybank said, “With Alvin’s experience and track record, he is expected to steer Maybank Singapore along a similar path of impactful results both locally and regionally.”
