Stripe and OpenAI collaborate to integrate GPT-4 AI into payments platform

Stripe, the financial infrastructure platform, has announced a partnership with OpenAI to leverage the AI firm's generative AI technologies for its payments offerings. Under the agreement, Stripe will assist OpenAI in monetising its flagship products, ChatGPT and DALL·E, and help with recurring billing, tax compliance, and financial operations automation.

The collaboration between Stripe and OpenAI marks a significant milestone in the commercialization of generative AI technology. Using Stripe's suite of products, OpenAI was able to launch a global payments system for multiple product lines in a matter of weeks.

David Singleton, Chief Technology Officer of Stripe, commented, "As these new AI companies proliferate, we're helping them with smart monetization strategies that get their products into more hands. Personally, I'm excited to easily buy more DALL·E credits and continue my forays into AI-assisted painting."

Stripe has always prioritized leveraging artificial intelligence to enhance its products and experiences for users. Last year, the company collaborated with Microsoft's Azure OpenAI team to implement GPT-3 for Stripe Support, helping agents identify quicker resolution paths for the many users they interact with each week.

Eugene Mann, product lead for applied machine learning at Stripe, expressed his enthusiasm for the potential of OpenAI's GPT-4 technology, saying, "Like the introduction of email, smartphones, or videoconferencing, GPT-4 has the potential to fundamentally rewire--and improve--how businesses run."
