Singapore Govt-led portal MyCareersFuture to add 12,000 more job postings in 2019

The Singapore Government-led jobs portal MyCareersFuture will add 12,000 more postings for local job seekers this year as a consequence of its Memorandum of Understanding with global job site Indeed, stated Workforce Singapore (WSG).

As per WSG, this addition will raise the current 23,000 job listings to more than 35,000 every month across 23 industries.

MyCareersFuture, which was launched last April to replace Jobs Bank, has seen more than 500,000 site visitors for job searches and career needs.  Since its launch, it has the site has collaborated with Google, JobsCentral, Jooble, and LinkedIn to display jobs posted on these platforms. However, it continues to be available only to job seekers. Employers will have to continue using Jobs Bank to post job vacancies.

WSG meanwhile expects to launch the employers' module in the first half of this year. For employers, WSG is working with Netherlands-based company WCC to provide ranking and recommendation services. The technology would help employers save time by identifying suitable applicants and candidates, reducing mismatches and missed matches.

MyCareersFuture has also collaborated with local tech startups like JobTech to identify more advanced skills-matching technology for individuals. The collaboration has also allowed the analysis of job mismatches and missed matches in key growth sectors such as banking and finance, among others.

As per the estimates of the International Labour Organisation, ASEAN will record the second-largest growth in labor force worldwide between now and 2030 (behind only India); another 59 million people are projected to enter its workforce by 2030. ASEAN would continue to represent the third-largest labor force worldwide, behind only China and India, accounting for a total of 10 percent of the global labor force by 2030. Interestingly, Singapore is projected to be in need of more foreign workers to maintain the country’s economic rise. But that is if job creation and skill level maintain pace with the demographic expansion.
