Farid Basir joins MBSB Bank as the Chief People Officer

Farid Basir has been appointed as the Chief PeopleOffcier of MBSB Bank which was incorporated in November 2005 is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Malaysia Building Society Berhad.

Prior to joining MBSB Bank Bhd, Farid's previous stint in the financial industry was his role as the Chief Human Capital Officer at Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Bhd. In 2018, he left Bank Rakyat, to take on a challenging post at Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) – which also happened to be his first employer, where he was previously bonded to serve under a tertiary scholarship agreement.

With over two decades of work experience spanning across a variety of industries, Farid brings a wealth of professional insights to MBSB – having had career exposures abroad in Switzerland, South Africa, and the Philippines.

His years of interest and undertaking in human capital development saw Farid being awarded four global professional certifications, namely HRCI-HR Management Professional, HRCI-Global HR Professional, SHRM-Senior Certified Professional, and Global Remuneration Professional.

Under TM’s scholarship, Farid graduated with a Bachelor in Business Studies (Human Resource Management) from the Mara University of Technology, 1993. Subsequently, he went on to complete several business and leadership programs conducted by Cambridge Judge Business School; Said Business School at the University of Oxford; Institut Européen d’Administration des Affaires, or popularly known as INSEAD; and the Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Switzerland.

He has been awarded accolades like the 'CHRO of the Year' at the World HRD Congress 2018 in India. A strong advocate of leadership excellence initiatives for the younger generation of the workforce, Farid is also the Vice-President of the Malaysian Employer Federation (MEF).
