FanDuel Group appoints new Chief People Officer

FanDuel Group announced that Lainie Cooney will join the company in the newly created role of Chief People Officer. Cooney will lead the development and execution of the company’s global people strategy, reporting to FanDuel Group CEO Matt King.

Cooney brings more than 25 years of experience designing and executing human resource strategies across geographically dispersed organizations, with a focus on operational excellence, change management, talent acquisition, and performance management.

She most recently served as Chief Human Resources Officer for Blue Apron, the meal-kit delivery service. During her time at Blue Apron, she led a nationwide HR team of 60 people across business units and held the functional responsibility for all aspects of the people strategy.

Before joining Blue Apron in 2017, Cooney was Chief Human Resources Officer at DPI Specialty Foods, a nationwide specialty food distributor with thousands of employees across eight distribution centers. In this role, she standardized and aligned five business lines that previously acted independently to support the greater enterprise and played a significant role in leading the company through a private equity purchase.

Prior to joining DPI Specialty, Cooney served as Vice President of Human Resources at State Street Investment Management Services from 2005 to 2012, where she was responsible for all aspects of HR functions both in the US and Internationally. Before State Street, Cooney worked for five years with The Home Depot.

“Lainie brings a passion for our business and a wealth of experience we can benefit from, and I am excited to add her to the senior leadership team,” said Matt King, Chief Executive Officer, FanDuel. “As FanDuel continues to grow globally, Lainie’s expertise will be invaluable.”

Cooney earned an MA in Clinical Psychology and Advanced Doctoral Studies at the California School of Professional Psychology. She is certified as a Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) and a Six Sigma Black Belt.
