Mt. Everest climber and North Pole skier to be GoJek SG’s new GM

Lien Choong Luen, the second Singaporean to have scaled the Mount Everest and the next highest peak also happens to be a management consultant. Now, in his new appointment as the General Manager of GoJek Singapore, his will help the ride-hailing firm scale new heights of business success.

Previously, Luen was working at the National Research Foundation in order to help boost the Research & Development arms of Singaporean firms. He also has experience working with clients in the technology and consumer sector as a strategy consultant at the McKinsey Centre for Government (Southeast Asia).

With about 150 employees spread across technology, operational and regional departments, Go-Jek’s data science team has been operating from Singapore since 2017.

“Lien brings a range of professional and life experiences to the team,” said GoJek President Soelistyo. “His deep understanding of innovation and entrepreneurship makes him a fantastic choice for Go-Jek.”

Since the time that the Jakarta-headquartered company has introduced its beta version of the ride-hailing service in Singapore in late 2018, Lien added that the company is getting an “extremely positive” response.

Lien will lead the company’s business activities and operations in Singapore in his capacity as the General Manager.
