Bain & Company appoints Sebastien Lamy as Asia Pacific co-head of Private Equity practice

Bain & Company today announced that Sebastien Lamy has been appointed as co-head of the firm’s Private Equity practice in Asia Pacific, effective January 1.

As the new co-head for Private Equity in Asia Pacific, Sebastien is responsible for implementing the strategy of Bain’s Private Equity practice in the region, business and client development as well as practice development. He will continue to be based in Tokyo in his new role.

With over 20 years of consulting experience in the company, most of which in the Asia Pacific, Lamy specialises in growth and portfolio strategy, fund strategy, M&A advisory and due diligence, and innovation. Most recently, he was leader of the region’s Infrastructure Investing practice.

Prior to joining Bain, he was managing director of Singapore-based Keppel Corporation, where he led group strategy, M&A, technology and innovation. He holds an MBA from INSEAD and an undergraduate degree from the HEC School of Management.

Sebastien succeeds Andrew Tymms, who together with fellow co-head Kiki Yang, accelerated the growth of the private equity business.

“Sebastien has been a key driver of growth in Private Equity in Asia Pacific. He has also expanded Bain’s business particularly in Japan and Southeast Asia. I am excited at his appointment and look forward to his continued contribution as part of our leadership team in the region,” said Satish Shankar, Bain & Company’s Asia Pacific regional managing partner.

“The scale and complexity of the Private Equity practice calls for a seasoned and well-respected leader such as Sebastien. The Private Equity practice will continue to be a power-alley for us, with a shared mission, great commercial discipline, and cohesive teaming across the region. I am confident that Sebastien and Kiki will continue to bring the most-cutting edge best-of-Bain capabilities to our clients in Asia Pacific,” added Rebecca Burack, head of Global Private Equity practice, Bain & Company.
