India is least preferred destination for expats to live and work in

Recently, InterNations released its annual survey The Expat Insider-2017 that provides unique insights into what it means to be an expat in 2017. The expats ranked 65 destinations and looked into more than 40 individual factors that influence an expat’s experience of living in a foreign country.

Bahrain emerged as the new hub for expats as it scores highly on ease of settling in and career opportunities. Bahrain is closely followed by Costa Rica which scored highly on ease of settling in, family life and quality of life. Mexico emerged as the third top destination due to its near to perfect climate, welcoming people and an affordable cost of living. Nigeria, Kuwait, and Greece were voted as the least preferred destination by expatriates because of a high standard of living, inadequate security and sub standard childcare and education as well as family-well being facilities. India has been ranked in bottom ten at fifty-seven.

Regarding career security, work-life balance and better career prospects, Czech Republic ranks very well for job security. New Zealand offers a shorter working week and a healthy work life. Bahrain is the top place for working expat women and has high job satisfaction. India was ranked at 41, 42 and 58 for job and career prospects, job security and work-life balance respectively.
