Watson Farley & Williams appoints Sumeet Malhotra as Partner, Singapore

Watson Farley & Williams, a London based international law firm specializing in energy, real estate and transport sector, recently announced the appointment of Sumeet Malhotra as Partner for its Singapore office.

Malhotra will manage dispute resolution along the lines of the energy, maritime, real estate, mining and commodities sector as well as handle disputes and arbitrations for the Asia Pacific region. His prime focus will be on assisting firm's commodity trading and shipping clients over trade, structured trade finance, shipping and insurance related disputes. He will also work with stakeholders involved in international sales, and transportation of agricultural and industrial commodities.

Excited to join Watson Farley & Williams, Malhotra mentioned that his expertise aligns with the firm's areas of specialization, enabling him and his team to drive WFW's dispute resolution practice as well as mining and commodities practice to scale up.

Welcoming Malhotra on his new role as Partner, Steven Burkill, Asia Pacific Dispute Resolution Group Head, WFW, revealed Malhotra to be a perfect fit to enhance firm's dispute resolution practice in Asia, along with focus on growing legal practice in mining, maritime, energy and commodities field, across Asia. Charles Viggers, Singapore Office Head, WFW, congratulating Malhotra, mentioned strengthening of the firm's legal practice and growth with regard to arbitrations and dispute resolution practices in the Asia Pacific region, with new leadership and expertise.

Barrister Sumeet Malhotra, has over 2 decades of experience in dispute resolution, legal advisory in sectors including, mercantile law, corporate and commercial laws,  industrial and agricultural trade disputes, structured trade finance, trade credit insurance and shipping or charter-party matters. Prior to WFW, Malhotra worked at Hill Dickinson LLP as Partner and played a key role in growing the firm's practices in commodities trade in Asia. He has served as Legal counsel/ In-house counsel at various law firms and companies, including Nobel Group, Cargill and Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement.
