Decker will become President & CEO starting on March 1st 2022, replacing Craig Menear who will continue to serve as company board’s chairman.

Home Depot has announced the elevation of Edward Decker as the new Chief Executive Officer of the company. Decker, 58, started his professional career at the Atlanta-based Home Depot in 2000 as Director- Business Evaluation. He has held roles in finance, business development and merchandising and within two decades, rose to the position of President and Chief Operating Officer in 2020.

Commonly known as ‘Ted’ among his peers, Decker will become President & CEO starting on March 1st 2022, replacing Craig Menear who will continue to serve as company board’s chairman.

“His ability to blend the art and science of retail is exactly what is needed in the next phase of growth for The Home Depot. I have tremendous confidence that he will guide our company to new heights.” Craig Menear said in a statement.

Decker studied B.A English from William and Mary University and MBA in Finance from Carnegie Mellon University.   

Home Depot operates 2,317 stores in the U.S., Canada & Mexico and it would be interesting to see the path the company takes under Decker’s leadership.
