David Fairhurst joins employee wellness company Wagestream

Ex-McDonalds CHRO, David Fairhurst has joined to the Wagestream as the Global Strategic Advisor. The company on its LinkedIn shared, “We’re delighted to welcome David Fairhurst, former Global Chief of People for McDonalds, to the Wagestream Team as our Global Strategic Advisor. He is a recognized thought-leader in building sustainable workforces and his expertise will help us to support organizations globally in caring for the financial health of their staff and future proofing their approach.”

Fairhurst resigned from the fast-food giant following the departure of CEO Steve Easterbrook. Easterbrook was fired over the weekend for having a consensual relationship with an employee. 

Fairhurst was named as the Global Chief People officer in 2015, shortly after Easterbrook took over as CEO. Fairhurst's departure was announced in an internal memo signed by new CEO Chris Kempczinksi, who replaced Easterbrook. After Fairhurst ouster, Mason Smoot, a Senior Vice President who also served as Easterbrook's chief of staff, will take his place on an interim basis.

Wagestream is a London-based financial company that gives employees financial fitness with the power to stream their earned wages into their accounts whenever they need it through a simple, instant app. The company which works with employers to let employees draw down a percentage of their income in the month for a small, flat fee

Last year, the company closed a Series A round of £40 million ($51 million).
