Singapore based mobile-first platform GrabJobs which is focused on entry to mid-level jobs, has launched a new feature that allows job seekers to apply for jobs without having to fill in a profile or upload a CV.

GrabJobs, which had earlier launched an interview chatbot that screens applicants as they apply for jobs, is using the same technology to eliminate CVs.

GrabJobs CEO and Co-Founder Mr. Emmanuel Crouy said, “It is an established fact that lengthy online job application forms or profile creation forms result in a high drop-out rate for applicants. Job seekers want an easier job application process. Our new feature will make redundant the need to fill out identical online application forms across platforms; instead, you respond to a handful of interview questions that are directly related to the job requirements.”

The interview chat bot is able to ask specific questions relevant to the job opening, and then automatically use the answers given by job seekers to dynamically populate information into their profile. When job seekers apply for another job through the GrabJobs portal, that data gets populated into their profile as well, allowing the job matching algorithm to better recommend the most relevant jobs and increasing the chances of them getting a better job fit.

Meanwhile, employers are able to immediately see whether applicants fit the minimum requirements and can then request additional information or schedule shortlisted applicants for an interview.

Crouy added that, “filtering applicants first by minimum requirements before requesting additional information increases the applicant rate on average by 40% versus the traditional way of requesting a CV first.”

The new feature is available on Android and Web, and coming soon to iOS. The new feature follows its recently raised additional SGD1 Mn in seed funding, bringing total funding to over SGD2.6 Mn.

GrabJobs’ latest feature is another instance of how technology is rapidly changing the way recruitment will happen in the future. More so, much of the innovation is expected to come from startups, which are at the forefront of innovation in the world of work, much like other ecosystems.
