Can AI solve Southeast Asia’s tech talent gap for good?

Krenovator Technology, a Kuala Lumpur-based platform specialising in AI-driven tech talent sourcing, has landed seed funding from Ignite Asia, a venture capital and private equity firm active in Singapore and Malaysia. Although the financial details remain under wraps, the funding round officially closed in early 2025.

Founded in 2019, Krenovator has steadily carved out a niche as a go-to partner for enterprises needing high-calibre IT talent. Today, it supports clients across diverse sectors – from oil and gas to telecommunications – operating in Malaysia, the Middle East, and Europe. The platform’s value proposition lies in its dual focus: matching enterprises with elite tech professionals while offering these professionals a dynamic space for growth and connection.

Talent acquisition powered by AI

At the heart of Krenovator’s edge is its proprietary AI-powered talent sourcing system. This technology gives the company access to a curated pool of nearly 30,000 tech professionals, ranging from software developers and business analysts to data scientists and software testers, primarily based in Malaysia and Indonesia.

Such a deep bench of talent allows Krenovator to respond quickly to enterprise needs, especially for mission-critical IT projects.

In a competitive hiring landscape where tech talent is often in short supply, this capability sets the company apart.

CEO Mahadhir Yunus put it succinctly: “This seed funding from Ignite Asia is a powerful validation of Krenovator’s unique approach to solving issues of tech talent crunch. Our AI-powered tech talent platform gives us an unparalleled advantage in sourcing top-tier tech talent in Southeast Asia.

This, combined with our deep understanding of enterprise IT needs, allows us to deliver exceptional value to our clients.

The platform’s AI isn’t just about matching CVs to job descriptions. It also plays a key role in fostering a thriving ecosystem where professionals can sharpen their skills, connect with peers, and stay ahead in a fast-moving digital economy. For businesses, this means access to a more engaged, upskilled, and future-ready workforce.

Jake Thui, vice president of investments at Ignite Asia, echoed this optimism: “We are impressed by Krenovator’s innovative approach to the tech talent landscape. Their AI-powered platform and strategic focus on sourcing top talent to support enterprise IT needs create a compelling value proposition. We believe Krenovator is well-positioned for significant growth in the region, and we are excited to be a part of their journey.”

The numbers tell their own story. Over the past two years, Krenovator has more than doubled its client base – attracting listed companies and Fortune 500 giants – and achieved an impressive 98% client satisfaction rate. The expansion of its talent pool and the recent acquisition of international accounts highlight a business on the cusp of bigger things.

With fresh capital in hand, Krenovator plans to fuel its next phase of growth by expanding its internal team and stepping up marketing and sales efforts. The company is also gearing up to diversify its offerings, with potential new services like ‘Software Tester as a Service’ on the horizon – an innovative twist that leverages its existing strengths while tapping into growing enterprise demand for scalable digital solutions.

Krenovator’s ambitions are anything but modest. “We have ambitious goals for the next 12 to 18 months,” Mahadhir shared. “We’re aiming to triple our revenue and double our clientele. We also plan to introduce new service offerings, including enhanced IT services, all leveraging our core strength in tech talent sourcing to cater to enterprise digital transformation needs.”

In short, Krenovator is not just building a platform but also a future-ready pipeline of tech talent that helps enterprises stay ahead in an era defined by disruption and digital transformation.

For HR and business leaders keeping an eye on where the next wave of IT capability will come from, Krenovator might just be the name to watch.
