BrioHR, a Malaysia-based HR tech startup, had a successful Series A funding round of RM30 million (USD$6.5 million), led by Openspace Ventures, Taiwania Hive Ventures, along with other key regional investors. This milestone positions BrioHR as one of the leading players in Southeast Asia’s growing digital HR landscape.

The company’s platform is already used by over 1,000 businesses across Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore. It offers comprehensive HR solutions, including payroll management, compliance automation, and employee engagement tools. With the fresh infusion of capital, BrioHR aims to scale its operations regionally and invest heavily in AI capabilities to streamline complex HR processes.

“This is a remarkable feat, especially considering the funding environment has been tight since 2022,” said Benjamin Croc, CEO and co-founder of BrioHR, in a statement. “This investment will allow us to grow tenfold and support more companies across Malaysia and the ASEAN region to build best-in-class digital HR frameworks.”

Croc also highlighted that the funding reflects confidence in Malaysia’s tech ecosystem. “It’s a testament to the fact that Malaysia is home to top talent and has the potential to build regional and global technology leaders. Our platform offers a significant leap forward in how HR is digitised—with a strong focus on user experience to ensure ease of adoption and maximum impact across organisations.”

As Malaysia intensifies its push to be at the centre of a USD$2 trillion ASEAN digital economy by 2030, BrioHR’s progress signals growing momentum in the country's tech startup scene. The government’s efforts to promote digitalisation across sectors are increasingly backed by strong regional players like BrioHR, offering scalable tools that not only enhance HR processes but also ensure compliance in evolving regulatory landscapes.

The startup’s easy-to-use UI/UX design is one of its most praised features, helping businesses adopt HR technology quickly, without the steep learning curves associated with traditional enterprise tools. BrioHR plans to continue enhancing its platform with AI-driven automation and predictive insights, aiming to turn HR from a back-office function into a strategic business enabler.
