Samsung Electronics appoints new SEA/Oceania CEO

Company veteran Sangho Jo, who has held senior leadership positions around the world, has taken the helm of Samsung Electronics' strategic direction in the region.

Samsung Electronics has announced the appointment of Sangho Jo as President and CEO of its business in Southeast Asia and Oceania. Jo has been with Samsung Electronics for over three decades, holding increasingly senior positions in business groups and geographies around the world, and this is his second stint in the region.

Just before this latest appointment, Jo was President and CEO for Samsung Electronics in Europe, and prior to that served as President for various country markets around the region: including Germany (2019), the UK, (2015-2017), Sweden (2012-2014), Austria (2011), and the Baltics (2009-2010). He has also been based in South Korea, Malaysia, Vietnam, and Singapore.

He said of the new appointment: “I am pleased to return to Southeast Asia and Oceania, and lead one of the vibrant leading hubs for Samsung Electronics globally. I look forward to strengthening the strong relationships we have built with our partners and customers here and explore exciting new consumer and commercial partnerships, steering Samsung into the next stage of growth in the region. In an era defined by rapid digital disruptions, we are committed to empowering the digital ambitions of nations, industries and communities in Southeast Asia and Oceania, and to help fulfil the potential of the people here through next-generation technologies.”

Samsung Electronics has identified the Southeast Asia and Oceania regions as being “integral” to its long-term growth plans, based on projections of rapid economic growth and digitalization.
