Microsoft names Charlie Bell as Corporate Vice President

Microsoft, recently announced the appointment of a former Senior Vice President at Amazon Web Services, as Corporate Vice President. After serving Amazon and building a cloud computing business for over 23 years, Bell was supposed to take the chair after Andy Jassy as Chief Executive Officer. Consequently, Amazon tapped Adam Selipsky for the role of CEO, Amazon Web Services.

Presently Bell will be reporting to Kathleen Hogan, Executive Vice President and Microsoft’s Chief Human Resources Officer, on a Microsoft corporate directory. Bell's present role with Hogan can be provisional, considering his extensive experience and may be moved to other organizations within Microsoft in some time.

Amazon Web Services has been filing lawsuits against workers who join rival companies, but in the present case of Bell, nothing has been done so far.

The Cloud executive, leader and veteran has over three decades of experience in working with a number of global companies. Bell has experience in software development, cloud business, pricing and finance, flight interface engineering, database solutions, etc. At Amazon Web Services, Bell belonged to Amazon’s S-team of prime leaders along with the designation of Senior Vice President. He handled and managed cloud business, software development service operations, database and systems engineering along with other duties.

Bell's former experience can be a boon for Microsoft, as the company's Azure cloud business has an eye to take Amazon Web Services share.
