A press release on Wednesday issued by Emeritus announced that the company has elevated Ganesh S. as its Global Chief Human Resource Officer (CHRO). In his new role, Ganesh S. will be responsible for all aspects of Emeritus’ employee and workplace operations, talent management, pay and benefits, global recruiting, while continuing to lead Emeritus’ response to the impact of COVID-19 on its workforce. Ganesh’s appointment coincides with Emeritus’s efforts to upscale and grow across the globe to support the vital need to upskill and reskill the workforce across all sectors coming out of the pandemic.

Under Ganesh’s tenure of two and a half years at Emeritus as the CHRO, the team has seen extensive growth, with the overall team size increasing two-fold in the last 12 months totaling to 2000 currently. Ganesh has also led the development of innovative initiatives like the Emeritus’ Instructional Design Academy, a training program to cultivate talent and create career opportunities to bridge the gap between those who want to join the online learning revolution and the dearth of professional training available in India.

From CHRO to Global CHRO

On being asked what prompted the change from ‘CHRO’ to ‘Global CHRO’, Co-Founder & CEO of Emeritus, Ashwin Damera said, “With our rapid expansion, we now have a global workforce spread across more than 20 countries. With this elevation, we will rely on Ganesh’s expertise to manage the people function across geographies.” Under him, the HR team will focus on onboarding A+ talent globally while managing international teams across all the offices. Further Ashwin added that the team believes that, “Ganesh shares our vision of making high-quality education accessible and affordable to those seeking to upskill and reskill themselves for their future, and this elevation aids us another step ahead in our growth trajectory.”

The top priorities for Ganesh as his domain widens from India to Global will be to build and strengthen the teams in LATAM (Mexico & Brazil), China and APAC (India, South East Asia and Australia), while also attracting A+ talent globally. The company will ensure the company’s vision and mission is achieved and the growth trajectory remains on course while strengthening their global people processes and systems in order to retain great talent. Ganesh added, “We are also in the process of developing and running Global Talent Development programs so that our workforce will be able to have trans-national exposure, experiences and education that will help their career paths.”
