Carlsberg appoints new CHRO

The Carlsberg Group announced last week that Joris Huijsmans has been appointed Chief Human Resources Officer, effective January 1, 2021. He will take over from Maj Britt Andersen as HR business partner to the Executive Committee, and lead the Global HR Leadership Team.

Huijsmans has been with Carlsberg since 2016, first as head of group strategy, and later in charge of its urban development project. He was subsequently appointed Managing Director of Carlsberg Export & License in 2019.

He said of the new appointment: “I am inspired by the fact that Carlsberg is not just another listed brewery group, but owned by a foundation that gives back the dividends of its shares to society. I also take great pride in working in a high-performance company with an ambitious sustainability program. It helps our purpose come alive. Our skilled employees around the world are ardent and ambitious. We will build on their passion in the future, ensuring Carlsberg remains an attractive and inclusive workplace for all."

Huijsmans has over 20 years' experience in the consumer goods industry, specifically in international brands known for alcoholic beverages, and in emerging markets. Prior to joining Carlsberg, he spent 12 years with Heineken, most recently as the Managing Director of Heineken in Hungary, and before that with Heineken in Mexico and the Netherlands. He also spent several years with Asia Pacific Breweries in Singapore. In his current position, he will be based in Copenhagen.
