On-demand international food delivery service Foodpanda has recently implemented new employee benefits for 2019 in Malaysia. As of this year, new fathers at foodpanda Malaysia will be entitled to one month of paid paternity leave.

This makes foodpanda one of the few companies in Malaysia to implement such a benefit. In addition to that, foodpanda will be one of the first in Malaysia to provide their employees with both paid maternity and paternity leave to parents who adopt a child. Maternity leave of 90 days as well as paternity leave of 30 days will be granted to employees who adopt a child under the age of 5.

Sayantan Das, Managing Director, foodpanda Malaysia stated, “Foodpanda acknowledges the importance of parents spending quality time to bond with their child. We believe that it is important for both parents to play an active role in the early stages of their child's life.”

The foodpanda rider fleet will also be entitled to a new insurance policy effective on the 1st of March 2019. All active riders will be fully covered up to RM20,000 ($4.8K), 24 hours a day. The extensive insurance covers individuals from injuries and accidents, permanent disabilities as well as death.

The above benefits are among some of the new employee benefits implemented by foodpanda this year as it aims to bring the best employee experience and creating a better working culture within the organization. The on-demand food delivery service, owned by Delivery Hero, has grown to more than 30,000 partner restaurants in more than 190 cities across 10 Asian and Central Europe countries globally. Foodpanda is active in Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Pakistan, Taiwan, Philippines, Bangladesh, Romania, and Bulgaria.
