P&G names Sundar Raman as global CEO

American packaged goods company Procter & Gamble has announced the appointment of Sundar Raman as global CEO of the organisation. He will be leading the fabric and home care division which includes iconic brands like Ariel, Tide, Ambipur, and Downy.

Raman began his career as a market analyst in India in 1998 straight out of college, and soon moved to the US where he worked in a variety of roles, from business intelligence to marketing, in P&G Beauty. Raman takes the reins as successor to Shailesh Jejurikar, who has been elevated to the role of Chief Operating Officer, making him the first Indian in the company to do so. A visionary leader with broad expertise and a passion for innovation, Raman was involved in the launch of popular products such as Tide Pods and Downy Unstoppables.

“In this role, Sundar is responsible for delivering top- and bottom-line growth through innovation (R&D), a synchronised E2E supply chain, brand-building, and sales," P&G said in a statement announcing his new role.

India has been the training ground for top talent at P&G and one of the largest exporters of executives to the firm globally. Following his appointment, Raman will also lead the equality-inclusion initiative for fabric home care, reflecting his passion for DE&I and the company’s Citizenship values.
