ParagonCorp appoints Nanang Chalid as HRBP

ParagonCorp, the Indonesian FMCG powerhouse behind brands like Wardah, Emina, and Make Over, has announced the appointment of Nanang Chalid as HR Business Partner (HRBP).
In this strategic role, Chalid will focus on building Paragon into a leading Indonesian FMCG champion by leveraging his extensive experience across the tech and consumer goods industries.
In a unique twist, Chalid refers to his new role as “Parapreneur,” signaling ParagonCorp’s commitment to redefining HR not just as a function but as a purpose-driven movement centered around culture, empowerment, and collective growth. He will work closely with Paraleaders and Parapreneurs to create an innovative, people-first ecosystem.
With over 20 years of experience, Chalid joins ParagonCorp from ByteDance, where he played a pivotal role in the HR integration of Tokopedia and its subsidiaries into the ByteDance Group. His career spans senior HR leadership roles at Unilever, Tokopedia, and GoTo. At Unilever, he contributed significantly to employer branding and organizational development across several ASEAN markets.
Sharing his excitement on LinkedIn, Chalid wrote, "I'm excited to announce that I am officially a Parapreneur now at ParagonCorp! Looking forward to making our dream of forming an innovative ecosystem, where everyone can do good to one another, and turn Indonesia into a better society for the next generations come true."
Chalid’s move reflects a growing trend among top HR leaders in Indonesia who are gravitating toward mission-led organizations that combine innovation with a deep societal purpose. His appointment reinforces ParagonCorp’s ambition to not only scale as a major FMCG player but also set the benchmark for purpose-driven, inclusive talent ecosystems in the region.
Chalid believes creating a great workplace (regardless the industry) is the key to creating a better world. According to him, we spend more than 30% of our life at work; that is half of our waking hours. As a leader, both HR and a Business Head, what you do and decide impacts the life of your workforce: either they will come home happy and energised, or they will carry sorrow in their troubled mind and impact their loved ones at home: spouse, kids, friends, and parents. There is only one mission for Leaders: to create a great workplace. And I hope this blog help you to do exactly that.
He further adds that a great workplace has two essential elements: great leaders and well-designed ways of managing talent, team, organisation, capability, and culture of a company.
