Boston Consulting Group names new Asia Pacific Chair

Boston Consulting Group has appointed Yasushi Sasaki as the new Asia Pacific chair, overseeing the group's business across Australia, China, India, Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia. With the appointment, he also joins BCG’s Executive Committee, Operating Committee, and People and Purpose Committee.
Sasaki was previously Northeast Asia system leader from 2019 to 2024, managing the firm’s operations in Japan and Korea with a focus on strengthening brand presence and reach. He joined BCG in 2002 and was appointed managing director in 2010, a position he still holds.
He is an expert in the financial services sector, with a particular focus in banking, insurance, investment banking, and asset management, and also served as Regional Practice Area Leader for Financial Institutions in Asia Pacific. His experience is rooted in his previous work with the Industrial Bank of Japan (now Mizuho Financial Group), where he led the M&A advisory and leveraged finance businesses.
He succeeds Neeraj Aggarwal, who held the role since 2018 and doubled BCG's APAC business with a special focus on the firm’s capabilities in digital and AI, climate and sustainability, and the diversity agenda. Aggarwal, the author of multiple publications on leadership, technology, innovation, climate and sustainability, and an active participant in industry association dialogues, has not disclosed his next steps but endorsed Sasaki's appointment in an official statement.
Sasaki, meanwhile, hinted that AI, sustainable growth, and smart supply chains will be areas of focus for BCG going forward.
“Asia-Pacific is entering a pivotal decade—AI-fueled productivity, net-zero growth plays, and smarter supply chains are rewriting the growth playbook,” he said in the official announcement of his appointment. “I’m grateful for this opportunity to lead BCG Asia-Pacific and continue to help our clients create stronger, more resilient businesses.”
