Dave Perry, former Vice President, Social Media Marketing, Nickelodeon has now joined Amazon Prime Video as Global Director of Social Media.
In Nickelodeon, he led fan engagement, and worked on the cross-platform social strategy for Nickelodeon. He spearheaded adoption of emerging platforms and fostered innovation, including Augmented Reality.
Before becoming associated with Nickelodeon in August 2016, Perry was working as Vice President, Social Media + Innovation for VH1. Earlier from 2002 to 2009 , he has also worked as Director, On-Air Graphics Production for MTV. It was this role at MTV that Perry began his journey in Viacom. Then he went on to spend 17 years in the company and took on diverse roles, from working as executive producer, on-air GFX and multi-platform creative to taking care of social media.
In the past, Perry has also worked with companies like Razorfish, Lee Hunt Associates and Miramax.
After spending more than a decade with one brand, now Perry is excited to begin a new journey.
He said, “After 17 years at Viacom, I am embarking on a new chapter with a new company. As of today, I'm starting in a new position at Amazon, as the global head of social media for Amazon Prime Video - based out of Los Angeles. I'm honored and humbled to be working for Amazon, and I look forward to all of the challenges and opportunities that await me.”
Amazon Prime Video has more than 100 million subscribers in the U.S and is in the middle of a global expansion. As the subscriber base for Amazon increases globally, their engagement not only on the website but various other social platforms becomes critical. Communication is key for Amazon Prime Video as it also faces tough competition from Netflix. The leaders at Amazon Prime Video have to constantly work towards innovating and staying ahead of the curve.
