KUALA LUMPUR – Agrobank Malaysia has appointed Che Zulhaimee Abdullah as its chief people officer.

The Islamic bank serving the agricultural and agro-based industries called on the three-decade HR veteran to lead its overall people strategy, particularly its talent development and organisational transformation initiatives.

Abdullah has in-depth knowledge, expertise and leadership experience across industries such as banking, automotive, aerospace and telecoms. He joins Agrobank after having served as VP of HR at Honda Malaysia for almost six years.

At the car company, Abdullah spearheaded strategic HR, talent development and employer branding programmes, shining a light on the company as one of the most sought-after employers in Malaysia.

Full spectrum of human capital management

He was also General Manager of Group Human Capital & Administration at Composite Technology Resource Malaysia, where he managed a “full spectrum of human capital operations, strategy and development as well as general administration and security,” he said.

At CTRM, he was also involved in the company’s turnaround and people transformation strategy, as well as its employee engagement, organisational development and TVET initiatives.

His professional history also includes his tenure at Proton – where he managed industrial relations and union management, along with employee engagement and internal communications – and his time as Senior Manager at Standard Chartered.

In 2019, Abdullah was honoured among 101 HR Heroes in Malaysia and has been recognised multiple times for his employer branding initiatives.

Overall, he plays the role of mentor, coach, HR / IR leader, engagement expert and lifelong learner, he said.
