How do you instill a digital transformation mindset in your organization?

As an organization, we are focused from the top on digital in all our businesses. For HR then it is kind of easy as we are driven by the strategy from the top. What we have practically done in HR is to look at the basic building blocks that enable digital transformation and ensure they are in place. The right data capture, the right systems and the right processes to embed a great foundation now we are building on that foundation.

What role does culture play in shaping the journey of the digital transformation of any organization?

Culture is the heartbeat of the organization; we have a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation and this flows throughout the organization. We have in our corporate head office both a digital team and an AI/ML team to help drive and embed the whole digital transformation in the business segments.

How can leaders accelerate digital transformation in their respective organizations so that it becomes a seamless journey from top to down?

The vision has to leap off the paper into the day to day and heart and soul of the organization. At our organization, from the top, there is coaching and leadership investment around digital transformation to help drive this from the top. The overall recruitment strategy also plays a part in this to ensure you have hired the right skills and people that can make the vision materialize in reality on the ground. There is a need for talent to ensure this has a seamless embedding in any organization. Change is the one constant in our world today.

What strategies can organizations adopt to digitize yet humanize at the same time?

As I always say HR is always about the wellbeing of people. Even in the event of technology developments like AI and Robotics, the role of HR is still to care for people.

What is your key piece of advice to fellow HR and business leaders who are about to undertake their digital transformation journeys?

Engage with this, it is changing our businesses and if we want to be seen as key strategic partners we need to get on the journey to digital transformation fast!!
