LXPs and the future of learning – Opportunities, challenges and technology

Adrenalin’s LXP platform focuses on enabling L&D professionals with flexibility, ease of use and intelligence. Here’s what the company’s Chief Product Officer had to say on new innovations on the platform.
LXPs and the future of learning – Opportunities, challenges and technology

With an emerging hybrid world of work, there are likely to be fewer boundaries for remote workers. “Anyone can work from anywhere,” said Dr Ravichandran Kanniappan, Chief Product Officer, Adrenalin e-Systems Limited. “It’s now a global phenomenon and a feature of smaller organizations too, and companies need to be able to train people by leveraging technology wherever employees are based.”

As learning emerged as one of the top priorities during the pandemic, integrating learning technologies served as an opportunity for a number of companies to review their technology stack to boost experience and engagement.

While previously, learning management systems and experience platforms were designed with large companies in mind. The need to boost experience has been felt across medium-sized companies too, especially companies with a workforce of over 1000 employees.

“Over the last two three years, there’s been significant progress in identifying the right courses and engaging the user with the right kind of content,” Ravi said. Instead of manual methods of aligning courses, LXPs are leveraging continuously benchmarked data to build intelligence to the process.

LXPs and the automation of intelligence

While LXPs have been around, their use has been restricted to large organizations. “That’s because to define competencies based on job roles requires a lot of maturity in an organization.. Larger organizations create competency mapping based on the job role when a person is joining,”

Skills audit and identifying gaps:

“One needs to understand what is the skill level of the person joining the workforce, then the LXP system will map the potential skill gap and show an analysis,” said Ravi. It can also audit skill levels and show recommendations and the sequence of learning in a step-by-step process.

The LXP systems can also recommend the level of learning that’s needed for a job level. “After identifying the need, the system will map the training database. It may throw up a communication skill training program for an employee, but it may be designed according to the need – whether that’s entry-level, intermediate or advanced.” These systems boost learning effectiveness, especially for remote workers.

Enabling career paths: Technology based on AI/ML today enables LXP platforms to leverage intelligence by competency experts across the world.   As this data varies across regions, companies could have access to these premium features if needed.

Next-gen learning dashboards

DIY Dashboards: While dashboards have been around for a long time to help decision-makers make the right call. Ravi notes that the Adrenalin e-Systems’ design allows users to create their own dashboards. Instead of pre-designed dashboards, customers can access options that will allow them to drill down and see the data in different chart formats.

There are a lot of errors that could happen when data is sliced according to different needs. When users are given the power to design their own dashboards, they can choose which dimensions to include. Allowing users to personalize the data according to the needs of the business is critical.

Better security: “Most people take the data and export it to Excel to better manage and understand the data, but it comes with cyber security risks especially while transferring such data over email. The Adrenalin dashboard is capable of giving users the Excel experience,” Ravi notes. This ensures that the data is secure and one can also control who has access to this data.

CXO view: The system is also designed with a CXO view in mind, which means prioritizing brevity and crisp data presentation. Each and every function will have its own dashboard – spanning finance, payroll, performance with the employee at the centre… that CXOs can intelligently understand.

Presentation mode: Users can also easily export data into a PPT format that enables executives to present the data quickly without having to recreate the charts. In addition to this, any change made to the logic of the data representation on the system will automatically be modified in the Excel spreadsheet too.

“Where Adrenalin is differentiating itself, is by enabling self-service, flexibility and access to information that give decision-makers an integrated view of multiple systems thereby sharing workforce analytics and not just employee analytics,” said Ravi.
