Now that working from home has become a norm, questions are being raised whether it is at all necessary to visit offices for work. Sharing an example, Ritu said that there specially the proportion of employees in the workforce hailing from small towns have found that life was better while working from home. So, today,  the “Challenges of going back to metro cities for onsite work is a deterrent for many of them.”

Commenting on the leadership style in the era of automation, Ritu noted that the workforce needs more engagement than ever before. According to her, “There is a need for leaders to adapt and accept this hybrid work culture. Dialogues have to be exchanged with employees for building a well balanced hybrid network of  workers structure that meets the needs of the various stakeholders.”

She stressed that today's leadership must understand their employees’ needs and build a bridge to communicate with them in the language and context they relate to develop a sense of purpose that matters to them.

Talking about the traits that the future workforce may need, Ritu said that a leader of the future workforce will be better accepted as a team player like a film director or a sports team coach. Leaders will need to be agile enough to sense the nerves of employees, their strengths and weaknesses just like a director or a coach.
